Pregnancy and Breast Feeding

If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, or are thinking of becoming pregnant, talk to your doctor about the possible benefits and risks of taking Amphetamine/Dextroamphetamine during pregnancy. Using Amphetamine/Dextroamphetamine during pregnancy can result in premature birth, low birth weight of infant, and possible withdrawal symptoms in the infant.

Amphetamine/Dextroamphetamine passes into breast milk and can have harmful effects on a breastfeeding infant. It is not recommended to breast feed on this medication. Instructions for use:

  • Your last dose for the day should be taken 4 hours before bed time, to help minimize impact on sleep.

  • If you miss a dose of Amphetamine/Dextroamphetamine, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
  • Do not suddenly stop taking Amphetamine/Dextroamphetamine or you may experience withdrawal symptoms, such as sleep problems, mental/mood changes, and severe tiredness. Talk with your doctor if you would like to stop taking Amphetamine/Dextroamphetamine. They may gradually lower your dose over time to avoid these unwanted symptoms.
  • Amphetamine/Dextroamphetamine can be addictive. Do not increase your dose, take it more often than prescribed, or use it for a longer time than instructed. Stop this medication if directed to do so by your doctor.
